May 26 - All Mothers' Day
Mom! Have a celebration…
On May 26th, we celebrate the beautiful holiday of Mother's Day. It's worth thinking of this day not just as one short snippet of the entire year, but truly as a celebration that lasts every day. Composed of everyday moments that bring many joys, challenges, and hardships.
This is a moment to reflect on yourself and discover all your strengths, which can be hidden by the humdrum of everyday life. Being a parent – a mother – is a great challenge. That's why we would like to not only wish you all the best on this day, but also offer a few important tips on how not to forget about yourself in all of this.
Let May 26th be a good time to reflect on your emotions and needs. Try to put your days into perspective and honestly answer the question: am I giving myself enough?
The closeness and tenderness that you, as a mother, give to your child from an early age is the most beautiful foundation, thanks to which they learn to trust themselves and the whole world. You create a secure bond of attachment—full of love and strength, allowing your child to move into the world with their heads held high and build good relationships in adulthood.
Remember that self-care isn't selfish—it's absolutely essential. No one pours from an empty pot, and to have strength, patience, and warmth for your loved ones, you must first take care of your own inner self and body.
Here are a few small but incredibly important steps and tips you can incorporate into your daily routine to support yourself through the challenges of the passing days:
- Catch your breath with your morning coffee—Before your home comes alive, or during a quiet moment during the day, try a simple mindfulness technique. Hold a warm mug of tea or coffee in your hands, close your eyes, and focus only on this one moment. Smell the aroma, the warmth in your hands, and take three very deep, calm breaths. These few dozen seconds are your safe haven that will help reduce impending stress.
- Notice the "here and now" - When you go for a walk or return from the store, try to momentarily switch off the rush of thoughts about your responsibilities. Focus on what's around you - feel the wind on your face, notice the color of the sky, hear the sound of your own footsteps. Moving away from your "to-do list" for a moment gives you a respite.
- Daily Time for Yourself - Set aside at least 30 minutes a day just for yourself. A hot bath without knocking on the door, a few pages of your favorite book, a walk, or simply lying on the couch in absolute silence. You have every right to do this and don't have to justify it to anyone. Time for yourself every day is a regular recharge; don't let yourself "fly" on reserve.
- Plan a Weekend - What if you could go a step further? Try planning at least one weekend in the near future (or at least one full afternoon!) where you hand over the reins to someone else. Organize a trip with a friend, retreat to your bedroom with your favorite TV show, go for a massage, or take a long walk. Let this be a time when the world stops calling out "Mom!"
We'd like to wish all Moms lots of self-care, which can be the best gift, not just on this day, but all year round. After all, being a mom isn't just a full-time job, but also a space to support yourself.
PS: You are simply amazing!
